Program of the Sail: Slalom Racing / Foil Racing
The RS:RACING EVOXVI represents the pinnacle of NeilPryde's sail design, meticulously engineered for competitive slalom and foil racing. Building upon the success of its predecessors, the EVOXVI introduces advanced materials and refined construction techniques to deliver unparalleled performance on the water.
Innovative Design and Materials
Incorporating cutting-edge materials, the EVOXVI features Taffeta in the upper luff sleeve and Lite Skin Aramid in the clew. These enhancements significantly improve durability and stretch resistance, resulting in a more responsive and competitive racing sail. The strategic use of these materials ensures the sail maintains its optimal shape under varying wind conditions, providing racers with a consistent and reliable experience.
To further reduce weight and enhance stability, six of the seven battens are constructed from pure carbon tubes. This design choice minimizes swing weight and stabilizes the sail's profile, allowing for quicker acceleration and improved top-end speed. The 5.6 square meter model is now based on the highly successful 5.7 square meter speed-specific sail, optimized for slalom racing with a reduced foot area.
Performance Enhancements
The EVOXVI's design focuses on delivering exceptional control and stability. The quadruple luff construction comprises four layers of material, reinforcing the high-stress luff area to handle maximum downhaul tension. This construction minimizes stretch, maintaining the sail's intended shape and enhancing overall performance.
The seven-batten layout is aerodynamically aligned to improve airflow, facilitate easier rotation, and enable faster acceleration. Additionally, carbon ribs sewn onto the leading edge of the upper sleeve stabilize critical sections of the sail where cambers are absent, reducing drag and promoting higher speeds.
