Kids Wetsuits
Kids Wetsuits for Every Water Temperature
Getting kids comfortable in the water starts with the right wetsuit. A suit that's too cold cuts sessions short; one that's too tight kills enthusiasm before it starts. Our kids wetsuit range covers every water temperature from warm Mediterranean summers to cold Atlantic winters, in sizes from age 4 to 16.
We stock ION kids wetsuits across the full thickness range — 2mm shorties for summer paddling, 3/2mm full suits for spring and autumn sessions, and 4/3mm models with sealed seams for cold-water surfing and kiteboarding. Every suit uses SuperFlex neoprene that stretches with growing bodies and pre-shaped knees that allow unrestricted movement on a board.
Choosing the Right Kids Wetsuit
Wetsuit thickness should match water temperature, not air temperature. For water above 20°C, a 2mm shorty is sufficient. Between 16–20°C, a 3/2mm full suit keeps kids warm for a full session. Below 16°C, move to a 4/3mm with sealed seams and consider adding gloves and boots.
Sizing is critical for kids wetsuits — too loose and cold water flushes through; too tight and the child won't want to wear it. ION sizes by height in cm (92–164cm), making it straightforward to match the right suit to your child.

FAQ
Q: How long will a kids wetsuit last?
A: Typically one to two seasons depending on growth. Buy for current size, not future growth — a loose wetsuit doesn't insulate.
Q: Back-zip or chest-zip for kids?
A: Back-zip is easier for children to get in and out of independently. We recommend back-zip for ages under 12.
Q: Can kids wetsuits be used for swimming pool lessons?
A: Yes — a 2mm shorty works well for pool sessions in cooler facilities.
