Windsurf Foils

Windsurf Foils — Fly Above the Water

Windsurf foiling has transformed light-wind sailing. Where traditional windsurfing requires 15+ knots to plane, a hydrofoil gets you flying in 8–12 knots — turning marginal days into full sessions. Our windsurf foil range includes complete foil sets, individual components, and dedicated foil boards from Duotone, Fanatic, and NeilPryde.

Complete Foil Sets vs Components

If you're new to foil windsurfing, start with a complete foil set — front wing, stabiliser, mast, fuselage, and mounting hardware matched and tested together. The Duotone Spirit foil system and NeilPryde Glide are our top recommendations for beginners. Experienced foilers can mix components — swap front wings for speed or lift characteristics, change mast length for conditions, and fine-tune stabiliser angle.

Choosing Your First Windsurf Foil

Start with a larger front wing (1200–1800cm²) for early liftoff and stable flight. Use a shorter mast (60–70cm) to reduce the consequences of crashes while learning. An aluminium mast saves money during the learning phase when crashes are frequent — upgrade to carbon once your technique is solid.

Pair your foil with a dedicated foil board (90–120L) or a freeride board with a Deep Tuttle or foil-specific box. Foil sails like the Duotone Warp_Foil are optimised for foiling with reduced power delivery and a shorter luff.

Why Buy Windsurf Foils at Surf Store

Our team can advise on foil setup for your weight, sail size, and experience level. We build complete foil packages with matched components and offer individual wings and masts for upgrading existing setups.

FAQ

Q: Can I foil with my existing windsurf board?
A: Some freeride boards accept foils via a Deep Tuttle box. However, a dedicated foil board with lower volume and a centred stance offers much better control.

Q: How difficult is windsurf foiling to learn?
A: Expect 5–10 sessions to achieve stable flight if you're already an intermediate windsurfer. Previous foiling experience in other disciplines helps significantly.

Q: What mast length for a beginner foiler?
A: Start with 60–70cm. Move to 85–95cm once you can maintain stable flight and handle takeoffs and touchdowns smoothly.
