Wing Boards

Wing Foil Boards — From Beginner to Advanced

The board is your platform in wing foiling — it determines how early you get on foil, how stable you feel during takeoff, and how confidently you can ride in chop. Our wing foil board range covers high-volume beginner boards through to compact expert shapes from Fanatic and Duotone.

Board Volume and Size

For learning, more volume equals more stability. A beginner at 80kg should start with a board around 110–130L and 75–85cm wide. This provides enough float to stand, pump, and get on foil without sinking the tail. As skills develop, riders move to smaller boards — 70–90L for intermediate and 40–60L for advanced riders who can waterstart directly onto the foil.

Construction Types

Wing foil boards come in two main constructions. Hardboards (carbon, fibreglass, or sandwich) offer the best performance — stiff, light, and responsive. Inflatable foil boards are more practical for travel and storage, though they sacrifice some stiffness and direct feel.

Fanatic's Sky Wing is our most recommended beginner board — wide, stable, with a flat deck and recessed foil track that positions the foil optimally. The Duotone Pace series covers intermediate to advanced riders with refined shapes for speed, manoeuvrability, and jumping.

FAQ

Q: Can I use a SUP board for wing foiling?
A: Some SUP boards accept foil mounts, but a dedicated wing foil board with a reinforced foil track performs significantly better and is safer.

Q: What board size for an 80kg intermediate wing foiler?
A: 75–90L gives a good balance of stability and manoeuvrability once you can consistently get on foil.

Q: Do I need a different board for kite foiling vs wing foiling?
A: Wing foil boards tend to be wider and higher volume than kite foil boards for the same rider weight. Some boards work for both, but dedicated shapes perform better.
